Welcome to Cookpal. We care about privacy and keep our data collection limited to what the cooking assistant needs to work.

By using the app, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the app.

1. Information we collect

  • Phone number, used for sign-in and account identification.
  • Kitchen memory, including tastes, dietary limits, household size, and equipment.
  • Cooking records, including recipes, time spent, and ratings.
  • Voice data, used for speech recognition and conversation understanding. We do not use it to train general models.
  • Camera images, processed temporarily only when you choose to use photo recognition.

2. How we use information

  • To provide voice conversations, recipe recommendations, cooking guidance, timers, and reminders.
  • To adapt recipes to your household taste and dietary needs.
  • To calculate AI service usage and protect account security.

3. Storage and protection

  • Data is stored on servers in mainland China.
  • We use security measures such as TLS for transmission and storage protection.
  • Raw audio is processed temporarily and is not retained long term.

4. Third-party services

  • Volcengine for speech recognition and speech synthesis.
  • Doubao/Ark for natural-language understanding and generated replies.
  • Supabase for database storage and user data management.
  • Alibaba Cloud SMS for login verification codes.

5. Your rights

  • You can view and edit preferences in the app.
  • You can request account deletion: deletion via the app takes effect immediately; requests via email (service@cookpal.cn) are processed within 7 business days. See the Account & Data Deletion page for details.
  • You can disable microphone, camera, or notification permissions in system settings.

6. Data retention

  • We keep preferences and cooking records while your account is active.
  • After account deletion, we delete or anonymize data within a reasonable period unless the law requires retention.

7. Children's privacy

  • The app is not directed to children under 14. If we discover that we collected children's personal information by mistake, we will delete it.

8. Cross-border data

  • Your data is stored in mainland China. Our main service providers operate within mainland China.

9. Legal basis

  • This policy follows the Personal Information Protection Law, Data Security Law, and Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China.

10. Policy updates

  • For major changes, we will notify you in the app. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
